George Stanley McGovern

1922 - 2012

Just heard George S. McGovern is in an "unresponsive state" in hospice and is "peaceful" according to his family (see box below).

My ex-husband and I worked for his Presidential campaign when we were out in Bloomington, Indiana, in the early 1970's and while doing so, we met the man and were very impressed with him. It was a shame that he only carried one state (MY current state of MA) in that election, but the even bigger shame is that we got Richard (Tricky Dick) Nixon in his place. And we all know how that worked out.

What if...

All I can do is say God bless you, George McGovern,and it was an honor to be of some help to you when you asked for it.

"Steve Hildebrand, a spokesman for the family, issued a statement to NBC News that read: "At approximately 5:15 am CT [6: 15 a.m. ET] this morning (October 21, 2012) our wonderful father, George McGovern passed away peacefully at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by our family and life-long friends.

"We are blessed to know that our father lived a long, successful and productive life advocating for the hungry, being a progressive voice for millions and fighting for peace."

The world is a poorer place now without you in it!
