Downsizing

Then....

2015483940025560968ifJfMQ_fs

and now...

I just fit..

I went from a double sized bed down to a twin sized bed today. No I didn't miraculously lose 50 pounds and my bed is too big for me now... I just needed a change. And this hasn't cost me a penny ... yet.

We inherited two twin mattresses, one twin box spring and one twin bed frame from Paul's folks. Paul thought he'd put the smaller twin bed in his room, downsizing from his partial queen size (queen width but full length - long story), but then he never did.

In my room, my double bed was squeezed in the alcove by the windows and there really wasn't much room for me to maneuver whenever I made the bed, so I had the brilliant idea of downsizing to the twin bed we had in the basement. I ran it by Paul yesterday and he agreed... so that's what happened here this morning. (I'm still recovering from the physicality of it all!)

I may need to buy a set of new twin sized sheets in the near future. I think I only have one here now, and one is not enough for me. I need two sets of sheets to be happy.

The funny (or not-so-funny depending on who you ask) thing is that now, with the downsizing in effect, it's going to be like musical chairs, only with the bed...

If you look closely at this photo below...

Hey Mom, Who Shrunk the Bed?

...you can see the problem we have. Emmalee is partially on/partially off the bed... her left rear leg is hanging over the edge. This bed is also a lot higher up off the floor than the older one which just rested on a metal frame with wheels. So for an older dog, jumping up onto my bed now is a bit more of a challenge for her.

I can see that we will have some disagreements when it comes time for me to want to lie down on my bed and both of the dogs are already there, all comfy and cozy. Of course, you know who will get the bed, don't you?

Oh yeah....

my bed...

The Kippers! That's who.

That's how things work around here. Kip gets dibs on everything... Em waits for me to get settled and she surveys the situation and, if there seems like there's a tiny bit of room left, she'll get up but only after I nod to her to say "c'mon Em! Up!" and up she'll come.

But that was before the downsizing. There is only room for two of us now on this little twin sized bed, and I'd bet you a Fiver who the body will be after me -- the Big Guy! He takes what he wants and never hesitates. He (or she) who hesitates doesn't get the seat.

It's as simple as that.

Cheers,

Bex-of-the-tiny-bed
