Looking forward, some hopes and dreams

Happy New Year!

I am starting as I mean to go on - with an entry in my blog.

I may not write every day because that's just not me, but I hope to do a little something here on a fairly regular basis. And I'm also hoping that some of my friends/readers will make the attempt to do the same (and you know who you are) just so we can keep tabs on each other and keep in touch!

(BTW, Reenie! Where are you? How are you?)

(And Michael, you popped in here last entry and that just made my day! Thanks and keep up the good work!)

So, as far as hopes and dreams for the New Year are concerned, I give you a picture of a wonderful back garden area that belongs to a very special lady friend of ours, "SP," who lives in the Yorkshire Dales (lucky duck!).

She sent me this photograph that she'd taken of her back patio and garden area a long time ago, way before we had blogs, etc. I've always thought it looked like it should be in a magazine in some article written about how your little back garden can explode with loveliness like this.

We spent time with our friend, SP, at her home on a few occasions in our travels to Yorkshire, England, and those flowering gardens were just too wonderful for words - better in real life than in photographs.

The photo above always reminded me of an Alice-in-Wonderland setting... all lush and blooming and mysteriously leading to some far away land.

Here she is, SP, on the day she arrived at Crow Cottage all the way from across the pond, her first trip to the U.S., being greeted by the two collie dogs currently sharing the house with us back then, Jazz and Muff, and of course Paul.

My hopes and dreams come down to this. I am basically stuck here so I should do as the saying goes - "bloom where you are planted." I hope to bloom right here, at Crow Cottage, this year, somehow, after the cold winter months have drained away and the new birth of spring warms us up again. I want to plant flowers out on my deck this year. I don't have any delusions of being the kind of green-thumb gardener my friend SP is, but I must try. I said I would try last spring and I never did; this year I must try.

Having blooming things all around you does wonders for the psyche, I know that is true. I hope some of you will take up the spade and try your hand at flowering plants also, in your neck of the world... and maybe share some photos of the same.

So for now, happy new year, good luck, good health, and good evening until the next time...

Cheers,

Bex-the-future-gardener

It's in every one of us to be wise;
Find your heart, open up both your eyes.
We can all know every thing without ever knowing why.
It's in every one of us, by and bye.
