The frightening consequences of electroshock therapy

I'm a middle aged government attorney living in a rural section of the northeast U.S. I'm unmarried and come from a very large family. When not preoccupied with family and my job, I read enormous amounts, toy with evolutionary theory, and scratch various parts on my body.

This journal is filled with an enormous number of half-truths and outright lies, including this sentence.

Long week of trials

Very busy week at court. I had an all day trial on Monday, a 1/2 day trial on Tuesday, a one hour trial on Wednesday morning, and a 1/2 day trial in the afternoon, and then a continuation of that trial today. The case on Monday got postponed when I arrived in court, and the morning factfinding on Wednesday settled. I've also had another three or four court appearance sandwiched in there as well. I have another court appearance tomorrow morning that may involve some arguing. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with my performance. I think I did some of my best cross-examination ever today.

Not surprisingly then I'm a bit worn out. I'm also way behind on my paperwork. I usually work until about six in the evening, but this week and last week, since my car was in the shop, I've only been able to work until five most evenings, because I needed to have receptionists and secretaries pick me up and drop me off, and they all have families they need to be home for. In addition, we are short one attorney, and we have a second attorney who is a new hire and will not have a big caseload for a while. Plus, there is the fact that I took four days out of the week for a conference at the beginning of the month.

Despite being exhausted and frazzled, I'm also pretty happy. Being satisfied with my performance is court is a key to making me content. When I feel good about court, I feel more secure in my profession. When I feel secure in my profession, the future is easier to deal with.

I was feeling so good today that when I ran into a high school classmate I hadn't seen in over twenty years, I gave her a great big hug. It was sort of strange because I barely remember her name, and I couldn't remember her husband even though they had dated for four years in high school.

And now I have my car back. It can be good to have a mechanic in the family. Due to the fact that I needed a new clutch and part of the transmission, the total bill on my car is going to be about $2000.00. My brother-in-law is going to be cool about payments though, so I don't have to live on Ramen Pride noodles for the next month, and I may even be able to afford gifts for the office staff who have been so nice about chauffering me around for the past two weeks.

And finally on a sad note: The guy who invented Chicken Nuggets has died. Happy Meal lovers around the world should offer a moment of silence.
