The frightening consequences of electroshock therapy

I'm a middle aged government attorney living in a rural section of the northeast U.S. I'm unmarried and come from a very large family. When not preoccupied with family and my job, I read enormous amounts, toy with evolutionary theory, and scratch various parts on my body.

This journal is filled with an enormous number of half-truths and outright lies, including this sentence.

Dream interrupted

I had this cool dream that seemed like it would have made a good book, only I woke up in the middle of it. It was about this powerful corrupt family where everyone has some strange power over illusions. For some reason, I had been lured to the home of one of the members, and he had tricked me and my friend, but then we decided to be on his side. Then his family started chasing him, and he tried to convince them he was dead using his power of illusion, but they were suspicious, and he had to sneak us out with the help of a servant. It was like something from "The Chronicles of Amber". I had been looking at Charles Stross' "Merchant Princes" series last night(sort of related to "The Chronicles of Amber"), and I think that might have inspired the dream. I'm sort of pissed that the dream ended in the middle though.

I was worn out from the driving Sunday, so I was a bum yesterday. I did check out this huge bookstore in downtown Portland, and I finally found a copy of "The Perfect Circle" by Sean Stewart. I have no idea why such an incredibly good book never made it to big chains like Borders and Barnes and Nobel. On the other hand, this huge book store, easily the biggest I had ever been in, had no titles by Greg Egan, one of my favorite SF authors.

Today, I am going on an insane hike with my brother 7 of 12. It is a 1900 foot climb in 2.5 miles. If there are no further journal entries after this, just assume I had a massive coronary.
