the sideshow of human sexuality.

So, I've been reading feminist literature lately that seems to be important to a lot of science fiction writers now, and we had this "gay, transgender" sensitivity training at work. And you know, it's titillating, but it's a side show. 1000 years from now, notions of gender and race will be irrelevant. The real show is the advancement of human knowledge and the expansion of the interactions of human thought. Race won't matter for squat because we'll all either be uploaded computer programs, genetically modified in ways that dwarf current differences in race and gender, or just completely gone. We're predisposed to be interested in it as part of our genetic makeup. Because in the old system, who was fucking who and what their relationships were in a hierarchial tribal group were important. But moving forward, when ideas are the show, not so much.
