First and foremost, the chick situation is baffling. Friday's date ended in an uncomfortable and abrupt manner. Sunday's date went until 3 AM Eternal and then I rode my bike home sober and filled with good conversation with an evasive woman. Again. Lots and lots of evasiveness out there in the world. When did this paradigm shift occur? In my 20's all the women bitched about men and the inability to commit, but now I’m finding that women over 30 are complaining that men are TOO eager to commit. While I am an admitted serial dater, I've always stuck to monogamy when possible. Now the it's ladies who want to play the field as much as possible.

Saturday I got fucked up beyond recognition such that I don't even remember going to the South Street Diner for waffles. It's Very embarrassing to have people tell you about the things that you have no recognition of. I'm lying off all hazardous materials for a few days. Time to relax and detox.

On a better and more rational note, the writer Nathaniel Mackey came to Temple University last week and I had several chances to meet with him and get his opinion on my work. He was so great because he didn't get tripped up at all by my harsher content. He talked about style and how to read novels so as to analyze a writer's style and how that style can improve your own.

We also talked about different poetic movements, or at least I tried to. As soon as he saw that I was fishing for comments on the LANGUAGE Poets and modern avant gardists, he just shut me down by telling me to stop worrying about what Others are doing and focus on me. Which is fine advice, since I bitch all the time about Other writers giving me the ass-shaft on content, maybe I should lay off Others. Hating a different movement isn't going to get me published anywhere.

Hatred doesn't put words on the page; words put words on the page.

So, now having considered that for a few minutes, I'm going to bitch about the avant-garde right now - as far as their weak-ass essays that it is. Especially a Ron Siliman essay titled "The Political Economy of Poetry" who says, "it's not important if a poet is read in five, or fifty, or five hundred years, but whether that poet can and will be read by individuals able and willing to act on their increased understanding of the world as a result of that communication."

What the fuck does that mean? How does one know if one is able and willing to act in a world based on increased understanding? So friggin’ silly.

I would like to invite any of my loyal (and unloyal) readers to tell me if/when I start to act in a world based on my increased communication with it. If anyone has any pointers on how I might act better, please do not hesitate to send them. I'm very accommodating.

To end on a happy note, my ex-girlfriend spent her 28th birthday (April 4th) at the residence of Amber Benson who stars in Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Willow's lesbian girlfriend. Missy's been out there for six weeks and she's partying with minor celebrities. Hooray for Missy!

That's all for now folks.
