Hey folks, in a few minutes I'll be racing to the airport on my way to Europe. I hope to update this journal as often as possible while traveling. Stay posted.

A few other items:

1. My friends are in Europe and in place for my reception. This is better news than you realize.

2. I saw Bruce Sterling speak at the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society on Friday night. What a brilliant man. He spoke at length and at depth about terrorism, counter-anti-terrorism, and the state of cultural warfare. Bruce also spoke very highly of Clarion graduate Cory Doctorow, especially about Cory's intense blogging activities. I wish I had time to send Cory an email to tell him, but he should be at the Clarion reunion. I'll tell Cory there. (Unless a faithful reader wants to tell Cory, that'd be cool too. I think we all should know when our literary elders speak highly of their progenitors.)

Unfortunately, I tried to talk to Bruce afterwards and he was not very polite. He kinda blew me off when I asked him about Clarion and his essays in "Storming the Reality Studio." Oh well, I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding or maybe I had bad breath.
