2007-02-07 8:24 PM Starting a new story So, when I lived in Virginia the first time (that's what I call it - our first military tour in Virginia, my dad was at Quantico) we used to go on family camping trips to Shenendoah all the time. Around the campfires, late at night, after a couple "strenuous" miles (hey, for 6 years old 4 miles in a day is a lot) my dad would tell stories.
The best story he ever told, and it took two years to finish, was that of "Daniel the Woodcutter and his trusty dog Trusty." It was incredible, the story of a woodcutter going to go get some medicine for his sick wife from in the town, and the crazy things that happen along the way. I've decided it's time for me to write it down. It'll be an interesting length; like a chapterbook, but with pictures, but not a picturebook, but not really like a long chapterbook, just... inbetween. Like the Chronicles of Narnia sort of length (not sure anything I could ever write would be that brilliant or well written). I have a brand new Composition notebook (lots of love to the mead company people) and am ready to write. And it does indeed start with "once upon a time..."
