Screw VFA...

So, it happened. I told myself it wasn't going to happen. Actually, two things happened which I told myself weren't going to happen.

First one is serious. Really serious. Saturday, February 24, 2007 is the Virginia Festival of the Arts. And I have to play two solo piano pieces at the Musically Advanced Class II level, two duets at the Musically Advanced Class I level, two quartets at the Musically Advanced Class I level, and a Concerto at some level easier than the other stuff.

The solos are Ross Lee Finney's Nostalgic Waltzes 4 and 5 (have to play both... to count as one pice... don't ask me why) and Scriabin's Patetico Etude in some minor key I've momentarily forgotten. Evgeny Kissin plays it particularly well.

The duets and quartets are easy enough. The concerto I don't mind; I'll have it memorized no problemo. Nostalgic Waltz 4 and the Etude are killing me. 6 more pages to memorize. 3 days. 3 DAYS!!! F*** you, Virginia Festival of the Arts, for planning Festival right smack in the middle of the busiest time of the year for me. Ugh.

The second problem I have is I suddenly find myself extremely attracted to a girl I met at the Park Scholarship finalist activities. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem. But she lives in North Carolina. And has a boyfriend.

Murphy's Law triumphs.

And I'm still on a safari looking for a Prom date. Will high school ever bloody end?
