A Day That Doesn't End

So. I wake up this morning exhausted, still way too tired from the weekend, but essentially ready for school. Then there was an... incident of sorts.

As I get into my car to drive away, my mom steps back to say bye like every morning, and then she slips. And lands. And CRACK!!! Her arm broke. Nasty break. One of those two arm bones snapped, the other is ok (I obviously abandoned interest in medicine a while ago).

So! No school again. I drove my mom to the local hospital, stay in the stupid room until 10:30 at which point she has on a splint but apparently can't get the surgery she needs. At least we got the x-rays done.

At 11:00, we were told to go to an Orthopedic professional's office. There we find out our Tricare Prime medical insurance isn't accepted. I had told the idiot with an MD that we were former military and were on Tricare Prime. He said come by. He said schedule an appointment for later. He said he could do the surgery. HE WAS A RETARD!!!

So. I drive us home. Then the next 2 hours are crazy, just non-stop phone calls. Then we find out the only way to get my mom into surgery any time soon we have to drive two or three hours to either Fort Belvoir Hospital or to Bethesda Hospital.

Did I mention that my dad was away on a business trip? So he couldn't be there to help all morning.

Oh, then I think I forgot to include the phone fiasco. I forgot my cell in the morning, I just threw my bookbag into the garage and it had my cell in it. My mom decided she needed her wallet but not her purse, so she left her phone in her purse. And the hospital charges an arm and a leg per minute to use their phone on outside lines.

Then this afternoon our regular phone lines go out. Halfway through an hour of non stop calls. So everything goes to Hell.

Now she finally gets surgery at Belvoir, thanks much to a family friend.

Does life ever calm down?
