2007-05-21 5:55 PM Persona Writing Something I've never tried before, writing with a totally different persona. This was an 11:30PM, why not I can't sleep right now write. Something I've actually thought about before, with relatives who worked as subsistence farmers in the South.
Told from the view of a child, the lady speaking would be the Nannie, a slave. I was considering writing it from the nannie's point of view, but that proved to be disastrous "Wuts gotcha down, chile?" She asked. "Come ova hea, sit ahn mah lap," She requested. "Dat rainy clowd dun hid de sun, He made de day wut ain't got no fun, But fo every day youz alive, Memba, i's ah gift frum gawd." She sighed. "Behind dat big ole mean ole clowd, Is ah reasun tah live an sing aloud, Every dayz a blessin heah, Praise be raised tuh ouwa Lawd." She sang. "Go on now, be happy chile," She blessed.
