2008-05-14 9:10 PM So... Damn... I Don't Even Know... I'm not sure if depressed quite captures it... maybe it's somewhere between depressed and pissed off, but things just aren't quite going my way right now. Yeah, I did make dean's list this semester, but a 3.26 is nowhere near what it needs to be... and, quite honestly, it's rather pathetic given my potential and capacity to succeed.
So, shit grades this past semester. I can bring that up, it'll be ok, sure sure. Just aggravating right now. Then I was looking forward to a great summer internship, working at $12 an hour, good work, stack the resume like crazy, etc. etc. etc. Then I come home, touch base with the VP of the company (used to be best friends with his son), he forwards my info onto the people I would be working for. We agreed back in March time that I would have a summer internship no doubts, they needed people, loved interns, especially ones who did solid work and had good resumes (I worked there last summer). So, everything looks great, he passes my info on, turns out the new boss of my would be boss made him hire 2 full time employees right at the start of summer... effectively eliminating internship positions. Seriously now, what the hell. So, no summer internship, bad grades, and a whole lot of nothing ready to happen this summer. On the bright side, I figure I'll get some classes / software and really work on my Korean, continue increasing my workout regimen, improve my piano and guitar, read a great deal (something I've neglected the past few years), and spend some quality time with my family. All that is great. But it does a whole lot of NOTHING for my resume. Yes, life extends beyond the paper resume. But goodness gracious, the job market loves to see tungsten heavy resumes.
