...oh...dear...lord...help...me...?

Holy shit, I got hit with the nastiest of flu bugs, and it's only getting worse despite sleeping and popping ibuprophen (sp)all day.

I mean, it's seriously terrible - I don't remember the last time I felt this sick. It's so bad I'm currently watching The Godfather III and finding no issues with it - not even Sofia Copolla's nose, for crissake. So I'm using this brief window of coherency to write about it, in case something really bad happens to me.

Editor's note: Were they still dating, this would be the part where TAFKAC would have told Dickie to stop being such a baby. Of course, she'd be right.

But the flu, apparently, is a totally different beast out here, and it's probably a long time coming. My guess is it has to do with, oh, I dunno, the fact I've only seen 50 degrees once in the last 2 months (and that was a freak occurance), I'm still dealing with fun break-up stress (Momma and Poppa Dickie generously went to gather all my stuff outta the old apartment last night. Good times.), and I've got article and paper deadlines looming. And once the quarter ends, I get to spend my vacation moving my worthless arse to DC.

Ugh...I'm losing coherency again just thinking about it all.

If anyone has any suggestions about how to deal with an ibuprophen-proof fever (before heading to Student Health), please, seriously, pass them on. In the Midwest, I feel like an Amazonian Indian who just met white settlers and their foreign diseases for the first time.

That's not to call us SoCal-ers weak. I'm sure if you plopped Frosty or Christine or Lights on a longboard out in the Santa Monica Bay they'd be feverish by the time they got out of the water. (That is, if they didn't almost capsize and drown like JD^2.) We Angelinos do have a strong immune resiliency to runoff - Represent!

Which comes in handy during times like these.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go fall ov-
