So I just took a stroll over lunch a couple blocks over to the White House, which I have to admit is not the same experience as when Clinton was in office. First time I've been back since 9-11, too, so I could almost feel the warmth of all the red laser scopes tracing my shirt.

Apparently, I didn't have to dress up today. D'oh! What a pain in the ass, actually having to look presentable and decent again. I hate that.

But I was curious to see if there was any fanfare going on over the whole Shiavo fiasco, across the way in Lafayette. And there really wasn't, you may or may not be surprised to learn. Just the run-of-the-mill peace vigil person, which is standard, and one lady directly in front of the White House with a poster juxtaposing pictures of Ms. Shiavo...and Jesus wearing a crown of thorns. Then underneath, the Biblical reference: "We thirst!"

Silly lady, Bush isn't even there. He's in Cedar Rapids today - won't be back till this evening. At least the peace vigilant is aware of this "travel" phenomenon and has the good sense to bring a tent.

...And there goes my lunch hour. Beautiful. You ungratefuls better appreciate that.
