First off, my prediction: Racist Notre Dame 24, Michigan 21.

Secondly, I was as shocked as everyone else regarding yesterday's tragedy. Who would've thought, after about 15 years of marital bliss, Whitney and Bobby would go their separate ways.

And finally yeah I'm a deadbeat dad. Besides all the usual craziness in the world, there's a lot goin on in this desert, surprisingly, to keep things busy. Believe me - if you've ever lived out here that's a blessing. The blog posts will get back on track soon, but for now, bear with. I know you'll find a way.

One "problem" is a new addiction to The Wire. Nameless and I have been passing out on the couch to seasons 1 and 2 for the past couple of weeks, and I was reluctant to lob the hyperbolic "Best Television Show I've Ever Frickin Seen" label out there ... until this Jacob Weisberg essay appeared on Slate yesterday.

Best Television Show I've Ever Frickin Seen.

Previously, The Wire was one of those shows I'd click past - it just doesn't grab you, even after a few minutes. But once you settle in past the first few episodes - get a lay of the land, the characters, the language - there's an ambitious scope and realism simply unprecedented on American TV.

I dunno...read Weisberg's essay. Then go out and rent the first few disks of Season 1. Try it out - you won't be disappointed.

Be careful though - it might be a good idea to try Hollywood Video because it's REAL easy to rack up $40 dollars in late fees if you go with Blockbuster, um, is what I hear, hypothetically. Those guys are price-gouging bastards. ...Allegedly.

And now back to da game, yo.
