Ecca
My Journal

My feet will wander in distant lands, my heart drink its fill at strange fountains, until I forget all desires but the longing for home.

Keep in touch.

Back-dated update

So I'm settling into Grandma's house, and into work at City Repair. Between them, both can easily take up all of my time, or as much as I care to relinquish. But I still manage to read a good book now and then.

I had "tea" with both my father and my brother last week, before enjoying the weekend with most of the Ritter extended family here for "Christmas."

And I'm looking forward to dinner with my mother tonight.

Creative projects on the horizon include poster art for City Repair's upcoming Village Building Convergence, and a leather/cloth project for Aunt Ardath's late Christmas present.

I'm starting to look for connections between my social netowrks and City Repair's work and needs, too. The church I like to attend, St. Philip Neri, has a very similar set of values in terms of ecological stewardship, social justice, and friendly comforts. The church is planning an Organics Festival for June this year, and I'm hoping we can work together on it since the two groups (CR and St. PN) are neighbors within 2 blocks of each other.

I still tire easily; it's been a while since I had a full work load. Over the past 2 weeks I've suddenly jumped into some very demanding work with a lot of catch-up to do, especially considering the January end-of-year reporting requirements for nonprofits.
And it's maddening to watch my brain spin while I'm trying to go to sleep, knowing I need to sleep to work again tomorrow, but unable to stop considering all sorts of things.

I do better when I get enough physical exercise. Biking helps, but I often need to run errands for Grandma on the same days I work, so I've been using the car more than I prefer. With my first paycheck I intend to sign up for aikido classes locally. Aikido is a marvelous contrast to cerebral overload, physically demanding and spiritually refreshing.
