When I was just a pupling, JohnandAnn gave me Laughing Bear. He is my favorite chewtoy. When I bite his tum, he laughs. That makes me bite it more, just like I bite Poodle more when she grrrs at me. Laughing Bear had furry ears, but I chewed them off and ate them under the bed when Poodle and Labrador were sleeping. Then I pulled out some of Laughing Bear’s brains until his head was empty. The People took Laughing Bear away. One day, Laughing Bear was back, hanging in plastic on the staircase. I cried out when I saw him. His brains had been put back in and his head was stitched where I amputated his ears. When they gave him back to me, I bit his tum, and he laughed that wacko laugh. I took him upstairs and tortured him for days. This time, I chewed his nose off. His brains came out better through the nose. The People took him away again, but I knew he would be back. Sure enough. Much later, there he was, hanging from the stairs and once again with brains and stitches. He is my favorite chewtoy. Today the People gave me a new bear, Laughing Zorro, a tiny furry bear who sounds more like he’s gagging than laughing. I chew his mask off first. It gets caught in my throat, and it takes three Charlie Bears to get it down. His cape will be mine before nightfall. Laughing Bear and Zorro Bear are all my bears for now. I suspect there will be more. |
