Groceries in Texas

We went out to dinner tonight. Dave & Busters is awesome. I can not wait to take our friends there. Speaking of which, yippee! We have friends coming to visit! Thank you!!! And I take this opportunity to say anyone is welcome to visit.

A note on Texas. The grocery stores are a bit strange. They seem normal, until you check out. Today I went to the store, and the cashier introduced himself. He then proceeded to introduce the bagger. "Hi, my name is Tom, and this is Chris, he'll be your bagger this evening." I am not joking. They unpack the cart for you, repack it, and then offer to take it to your car. This is the standard here. In one of the chain grocery stores, you can check out your stuff without a cashier. You run everything through the scanner, and bag it, pop in the credit card or cash, and leave. Pretty cool actually.

We also got a note in the mail from our new Saturn dealer, hand written, welcoming us to the area. (We have already taken the car in for an oil change, so they must have gotten the address then.) But still, a hand written note was a very nice touch. I love my Saturn.

I was informed today that you are not to refer to a texan as a "southerner." They are "texans." Hmmmm, sounds like an ego problem to me....
