A sock and a sock and a shoe and a shoe, or a sock and a shoe and a sock and shoe? Which are you? This bit of inane trivia popped into my mind as I was struggling to find two matching pairs of what are apparently now referred to as "trouser socks" for women, otherwise known as knee-highs. I had a variety of single pairs, each a slightly, but visually discernible, different shade of ivory, some with runs, some without. Why did I keep the ones with runs? A secret for the ages. So I have to try each on with the preferred shoe to see how they look with the pants I rarely wear. And I usually I am a sock and a sock sequence person, but yesterday I was rushed into becoming a sock and a shoe person and it felt decidedly odd.

Exercise: It's only 7:20 - I will walk the 5 or so blocks to the office today here in steamy Cambridge.

Books: The Da Vinci Code.

Music: None.

Movies: The drama at work will be enough for me today.

Cats: Whining for breakfast right about now, I would guess.
