Movies:

1. See the Sea. I really tried to like this one. I paid attention. I stayed awake. I read all the sub-titles (much as I despise them). I attempted to ignore the atrociously poor sound quality. I wasn't discouraged by the amateurish home video scratchy film. I looked the other way when the mother endangered her baby every other minute. But, in the end, this was a nasty, silly, completely-lacking-in-suspense-or-any-other-even-moderately-redeeming-quality movie that was not worth the investment of 52 minutes of my time.

2. Under the Sand. Same director, different results. Charlotte Rampling was amazing as a woman whose mind cannot wrap around the concept that her husband is gone. She ages in front of us as she struggles to mend the rift between the part of her that continues to live a life with her husband present, and the part that knows he is dead, probably a suicide.

Somehow I ended up with three French movies, all at once. I have a great deal of trouble with sub-titles because I cannot seem to focus on both the words and the actions at the same time. Two down, one more to go. I'm going to go edit my Netflix queue to make sure that the rest of the foreign films are deprioritized a bit.
