Just after writing about the perils of pull-through parking spaces, I had a pull-through experience today. Me in my diminutive SUV (it really is small - the tiniest one there is, I believe) and some other woman in her Hummer. My stalling tactics - get into the car after stowing the groceries, take off my glasses, fish around in my pocketbook for the case for my glasses, put my glasses away, decide I need to read the coupons I received at checkout, find my glasses again, read the coupons, put the glasses away, turn on the radio, realize they're *still* in their fund drive, shuffle through the CDs to find the one I want, adjust the seat and the mirrors. She finally backed out in disgust. I won. Which is what it's all about, right?

I walked into Rebecca's bathroom this evening and noticed that it was about 10 degrees warmer than in the adjoining rooms. I realized that she had left her flattening iron (sort of the opposite of a curling iron) on. I thought she must have forgotten it after using it earlier in the evening. But she told me she had turned it on so it would be ready for her in the morning because it takes 20 minutes to heat up and she can't wait that long. I told her leaving it on all night might not be a great idea, fire hazard-wise and suggested that I'd plug it in when I get up tomorrow. She seemed to accept that but was still skeptical that it was a bad thing to leave it plugged in.
