The Ides of October

Did I sound a tad bit crabby yesterday? Limited sleep + stuffy head + ringing ears + crappy workday = cantankerous behavior. I'm much better today, thank you.

This morning while I was in a meeting (which is my normal state of being while at work), I got a call that the alarm at the house had gone off and that about 7 windows and 3 doors had been opened. Since I didn't recall hiring anyone to air out the house, I waited to hear from my husband who was dispatched to the scene as to the cause of the open house. Apparently the alarm had summoned the police who had subsequently opened every window and door on the ground floor to try to figure out what had caused the alarm to go off. They finally determined that the wind (fierce today - lots of power outages and downed branches) had opened one of the windows that wasn't latched all the way. Fortunately, we didn't get charged the $60 "nuisance fee" by the police since this was considered an act of nature. As opposed to an act of stupidity for not latching the window? But I wasn't about to bring that up.

Books: Indigo Slam by Robert Crais.

Music: Ten New Songs, Leonard Cohen. What texture to these songs.
