This morning Rebecca had an appointment with the dermatologist. We got to the office and were there for no longer than it took to sign in and Rebecca bolted for the bathroom, claiming she was going to get sick. Which she did. Repeatedly. The appointment was cancelled and she spent the morning sleeping. Amazingly, she's fully recovered this evening and staying overnight at a friend's house.

Our cats are badly in need of obedience training. They drink from the toilet (even the dog doesn't do that), maraud for food, play in the dog's water bowl, sleep in the sink and pee in the living room. The dog meanwhile has pooped in both the living room and the car in the past few days, goes into the basement and barks for no known reason, and begs for food with frightening constancy. The kids bicker and fight, whine for food, money and attention. Things could be worse. I could be Jack Ryan.

Movies: Once Upon a Time in Mexico. I did not see the first two parts of this trilogy and thought I would not be able to follow the story as a result. It was, however, a parable, a fable of good and evil that was outlined in broad strokes. Grotesquely violent, but in a comic book way, with bodies flying across rooms from a single gunshot. Antonio Banderas only had to act a little, Johnny Depp got to overact gratuitously, and Mickey Rourke wore a chihuahua like a stole.
