eXXXciting vacation reading

Every day I learn something new. Today it was thrust upon me, so to speak, while browsing for vacation paperbacks in my local bookstore. This store is massive, covering what feels like 10 acres. There are nooks and crannies into which I've never ventured, worried that they contain something that might cause nightmares (a Pu Paul autobiography, anime featuring a character based on Dom Deluise, the USSR 5 year farming plan I had to read in freshmen political science). This time I wandered into an aisle between mysteries and science fiction (I swear it wasn't there before - it's like a worm hole opened up).

Anyway, what first caught my eye was a shelf of books that were obviously part of a series - same binding, same font, same lack of an author's name on the spine. Looking closer, which requires usage of the glasses that have now been permanently attached to my neck by a beaded old-lady chain, I noticed that the titles were somewhat suggestive. Peering closer, I realized that the entire set of shelves was devoted to adult literature. In my bookstore! Almost as scandalous as discovering that the three XXXs in the middle of the Video eXXXpress store name meant just that. So did, I buy anything from that aisle in the bookstore? They did not have the book (Aqua Erotica) I wanted, and only one copy of its companion (Wet) that was not in very good shape (I like my books to be pristine - I want to be the one to break them down). They did have Kathryn in the City, a little build-your-own-fantasy book. Nearly perfect reading for next week's vacation...
