Whine, the new black

It was a day that requires much whining and gnashing of teeth. It started with two very difficult situations at work that made me feel as if I should go back to being a programmer again, despite the risks of my job being offshored. It continued with stumbling over a simple introduction while meeting with a partner, to point where I could feel people leaning forward infinitesimally and holding their collective breath, waiting for me to finish my garbled thought so that they could exhale. It crawled inexorably forward as I dropped my lunch (tortellini with chicken and lemon pesto sauce) on the sidewalk, causing the plastic to-go container to explode chicken bits all over and undoubtedly provoking guffaws inside the building. At least the resident geese will dine well tonight. It ground forward as I fumbled a meeting that was poorly planned (by me) and more poorly run (by me). It shuddered homeward as I snapped at both daughters, who, unsurprisingly considering their genetic makeup, snapped right back.

Enough sniveling. Here's the most recent electronic correspondence I had with daughter #2:
Hey mom i dont no we r bout 2 eat i will call u after we r done love u bye bye

Spelling, grammar, punctuation - all things of the past. This, and poor manners, portend the end of civilization as we know it. At least I still get the occasional (usually preceding a request for money or a ride) "love u", so things aren't really all that bad.
