Yesterday we had a few inches of slushy snow. The dog is ok with snow, as long as it's not too deep for her to trudge through. She wandered out into the yard, sniffing the perimeter, as she seems to have appointed herself sentry dog. She meandered back and forth, as evidenced by her wandering paw prints. Now, as background, we adopted her at the end of April last year. She has seen the pool covered, then uncovered, then covered again. Although she will walk around the pool (and occasionally feels the need to poop on the concrete), she doesn't stray too close to the edge. Yesterday, however, my heart took a momentary hiatus when I saw that her prints had taken her out onto the pool cover, then showed that a scuffle ensued when she apparently tried to clamber back out again. Although I was assured that the cover could hold an elephant (yeah, right - and where is the scientific proof of *that*), I was not convinced and believe that she has now passed the first step toward ultimate beatification.

From the "There is far too little humor on the back of vehicles" department: I was driving behind a truck that advertised OSHA Inspections and Preventative Maintenance (perhaps conducted in that order). Below that was the further explanation "Sales - Service - Bailing Wire". I'm assuming that the spit to go with the bailing wire is an extra cost option.
