2011-12-12 11:49 AM The Meaning of Aloha Aloha, to me, is the quintessential blending of Hawaii's tropical warmth, purity and beauty with the nature of the tenderhearted human spirit. Aloha seems to be a feeling expressed and received through kindness, affection, gentleness and liveliness, where people may offer gifts, a kind gesture like a cooked meal, or even a little extra, unexpected courteousness.
The supremely isolated archipelago of Hawaii's eight major islands form an oasis from a seemingly endless and harsh Pacific Ocean. The ruggedness provides the purest sky, water, and earth. The tropical warmth runs so close to our own body temperature that everyone here feels so carefree and comfortable. This perfection is almost as if the warmth transcends the physical and takes over our emotional selves. People act "warmer" because the air is warmer. The ancient Hawaiians embodied this somehow and have been graciously passing "the spirit of aloha" through the generations so that even visitors feel its effects. The spirit of aloha is one of the finest expressions of Mother Nature's tenderness and her intentions for us to share with each other.
