HeavyGlow call for subs: fiction and photography

There's something goofy with that header graphic up there, but I give up--I'm no good at graphics:)

Welcome to the HeavyGlow blog. We are now open to submissions of fiction and photography for issue #1. Please direct your subs to ohare.taylor.publications@gmail.com (active email link above).

6.4.2005:   These are temporary guidelines, but reflect what we're looking for. A revision will come when we get moved to our new home.

This publication will feature works of no more than 750 words, with a very strong preference for 500 words or less. Our ideal--it should fit on a page without the need to scroll.

Guidelines are loose and similar to Chick Flicks in that we are looking for emotional engagement and reader involvement, and of course, we like to be hurt and made to cry if at all possible. Conversely, we like to smile and laugh, too. This will be a nonpaying market until we get our feet solidly underneath us; we expect to begin paying (something) early in 2006, or late in 2005.

We're currently searching for four to six pieces of flash fiction that meet the above guidelines to publish on HeavyGlow--with full bio and/or a link or two--as examples of what we're looking to publish. Remember, we have a strong preference for flash that's 500 words or less. Please send your submissions attached as a "word.doc" or an ".rtf" to the following email address (ohare.taylor.publications(at)gmail(dot)com) with "HeavyGlow Submission" and your title in the subject line. This will not be the regular submission email address; it's just something to use until we move.

Additionally, we're very interested in reviewing photography with a glowing element to feature at HeavyGlow to complement our fiction choices. Send small files (jpegs, relative in size to the one on the menu page of the website) to the above email address if you're interested in being showcased in HG. There will be more news about the photography element coming soon.
