Don imus is 66 years old. Old enoug to have lived through and remembered the March on Washington, Selma, the Freedom rides, the lunch-counter sit ins. Old enough to remember Martin, and Malcolm X, Medgar Evers and Fanie Lou Hamer. Old enough to remember the Mississippi Freedom Party, to remember Goodman, Schwerner and Chaney. He’s old enough to remember Brown v. Board of Education and James Meredith “integrating” Ole Miss by himself and being shot at. He’s old enough to remember the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the dogs and the fire hoses, and Freedom Summer.

I know because I’m 54 goddam years old and I remember.

I apologize. I know, I got nothing to apologize for because I am not Don Fucking Imus and I cannot imagine what it must like to BE Don Imus.

I watched Rutgers play Tennessee in the finals this year. You Rutgers women, you impressed the hell out of me. Who knew Rutgers women had such game? I admit it, I haven’t followed the NCAA as closely the last couple years, but I’m a huge fan of women’s sports, and love that there are strong talented players out there. But that doesn't really matter; you could have gotten your asses kicked by Tennessee 87 to 23. How talented and strong and good you are is somewhat irrelevant, except for pointing out that THIS, folks, IS the real world, the 21st century and THIS IS REALITY. NOT the world of the Michael Richards', Mel Gibson, Don Imus hateful envy or jealousy or anger that the white guys no longer own the fucking world. Or whatever sets them off or makes them think that this ooze, this slime they secrete is okay. IT IS NOT OKAY.

Apologies are not enough. Two weeks' suspension is not enough. Saying ANYthing is no longer enough. It's clear he uses words to create a sensation - and thinks saying "oops" is enough. It's not enough. It's way past that. i don't care how many times he says "I'm sorry" or whose damn show he says it on. It's not enough.

IT’S TIME FOR DON IMUS TO SHUT THE HELL UP AND GO AWAY.
