I just got home from seeing the film "Defiance". I cannot impress on you enough how fantastic this film is. You really should see it, soon. It's an amazing story, and brilliantly acted. I can't tell you any of the actors but Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber. If you've not heard of it, jesus, go check it out. It's based on history, on the very real story of the Bielski brothers, who saved the lives of hundreds and hundreds of Jews, hiding in the forests of Belorussia during World War II. I've read about them, as has Stu. Stunning story, filmed in Lithuania.

And so there i was again, sobbing at the beauty and the fearlessness and the courage and the strength of these amazing people, Jews who were doomed to live in the ghetto until it was time to send them to concentration camps. I've written here more than once about my passion for the "righteous gentiles" who worked to save Jews during the war. These, my friends, were "righteous Jews" saving each other. Surviving.

at the end of the movie I told Stu "fluffy bunnies. I need a fluffy bunny movie. No more things going boom, no more pain, no more courageous people fighting hatred, bigotry, lies. All fluffy. No boom."
