Okay it's Red Nose Day. So that's a good start. See http://www.rednoseday.com/ for all the news.

It's the second Friday the 13h in 2009. Not a big thrill. Nothing much happened on March 13 that we want to talk about.

But i'd like to ask you to consider a new project I came up with when talking to my mother this week. We were bemoaning this annual occurrence. We get a few nice days (read: warm and hinting at spring) and then BLAMMO (or fill the the word of your choice) it gets bitter cold, maybe it snows (ACK) again but inevitably, it gets nasty again, cold and you feel for the poor little things. Those croci who work so hard for you. We though perhaps we could begin a movement. "Sweaters for Crocuses." The poor flowers, so bright and cheerful in yellow and white and purple (around here "purple and yellow" works out, far too often, to be the UW colors of purple and gold. The flowers can't help it - that's how they come, dammit.) But they need help. Knit a little crocus cozy today. It won't take long. And somewhere out there, in North America, you can save a poor shivering little spring bloom. The croci (crocuseseseseseses) thank you.
