On occasion, I like to mention Stuff Whut I've Been Reading. In recent weeks, because I was seeing nominations for the Anthony, I was reading a number of new authors and trying to read a bunch of Akashic's "noir" anthologies to catch up on some of the short story nominees, all of which were new to me. And darn it, many of my nominees did not make the cut. Hmph. What fun is that, when you are the official ballot counter/checker of copyrights and you can't even get close to skewing the ballot. Why didn't that story make it, huh? It was terrific! Hmph. Pout.

I caught up there and then I began the long tedious task we've been planning for weeks and weeks, which involves moving THESE books THERE and Those books HERE because that bookcase is hard to get to and this one isn't and I want my "most favorite" books more accessible for re-reading. Which I do. A lot. Especially when things suck. As they have a lot in early June when I was dealing with a lot of rather uncontrolled low back pain which limited what I could do. A lot. And this unearthed a bunch of things I hadn't read in years, from Deaver's BLUE NOWHERE (which mostly holds up but some of the tech stuff doesn't since it's, wow from 2001, but I really liked it. still. Again.)

So it's been a mish-mash of ARCs and old favorites. In the "oh wow look what I got, it's cool to be a reviewer" pile, I have ARCs of upcoming books by some favorite authors including Wendy Hornsby, Louise Penny, SJ Rozan and Laura Lippman. Oh, WOW, man.

Then I've grabbed onto some old favorites including some older Wendy Hornsby, some Charlaine Harris, and Alan Gordon's THIRTEEN NIGHT, the first book in one of the best series out there, the Fools' Guild series.

What are you reading? Do you recommend it?
