May i suggest INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE

http://www.rescue.org/

They've been around since the '30s and have a four star rating from CharityNavigator. If you go and click above where I have "Haiti Relief" it will bring you to the IRC.

If you know of others, tell us. I was planning to and still plan to donate to the IRC for Haiti.

If you are part of a club or service organization?
Shelterboxusa.org sends fantastically useful survival equipment. They cost $1000 so a group effort would be smart.
Shelterbox IS only 3 star charity which means they don't give as much of their money directly but it's a great idea. And these populations all need help now. It's still hell in Haiti and it's winter in Japan.
