Well over three months after finishing the first draft, and a month after my first tentative attempts to re-write the ending, I finally finished the re-draft of the story formerly known as "Mind is the Shadow of Shadowmind" yesterday.

That means that, on the new plan, my deadline to write the first new thing is next Wednesday night.

I finally got my fabulous contest winnings from RevolutionSF's Clarion Shmarion contest. One plain but comfortable and reasonably OK-looking t-shirt and a box with about six hard-cover books in it. Three of them are installments in series' I haven't been reading, and one is a high fantasy novel of the sort I'm not terribly interested in, but two look relatively promising:

*A cyberpunky-looking collection of short stories called "Futureland" by Walter Moseley
&
*A space-operaish-looking novel called "Kingdom of Cages" by Sarah Zettel

Oh, and after months of Flickr envy, I finally got an account, and fulfilled my promise from the blog comments a few entries ago to post a picture of my bookshelf in Miami:

(Yeah, I have my Clarion West diploma framed on my bookshelf. When I'm writing at my desk, it's in my line of sight, making a pleasant reminder: "hey, I can't suck *that* much, I *did* get into Clarion....")
