2004-09-08 2:39 PM Houston, we have a problem... Okay, I've recently discovered that reading, particularly when in transit, has a tendency to knock me out, put me to sleep. It never did this until fairly recently.
For a big reader with shrinking opportunities to read at home, and an ever-lengthening commute? BIG problem. I used to be able to slam through a paperback novel on the bus ride between Port Authority and my folks house out in Jersey. Now I can't get through 5 pages on the subway ride before losing consciousness. That's the most time I have available to read, the subway rides to and from work (A full hour each way, assuming I get a seat... but that's a separate rant against the MTA, coming soon to a journal entry near you.). That reading list of mine is a very long one, and getting longer all the time. I need a solution to this dilemma. Either that, or proof that it's okay to mainline caffeine.
