Things That Go Bump in the Mind

Where's Liam?

It's kinda like Where's Waldo, only with Waldo you never have to ask "And what is he up to RIGHT NOW?"

Eva and I are very happy to see that our son has officially made it to and past his 2nd birthday. We'd show you, except he managed to once again take a small chunk out of his good looks before we could go for family pics; a couple of days after my last journal entry, he managed to reach up onto the kitchen counter, grab the power cord to the George Foreman grill, and pull the grill off the counter and onto his face. He gave himself a nice cut across his mustache area, which thankfully required no stitches. He was laughing not five seconds after he'd done the damage, which turned into screaming soon enough - not because pain set in, but because we were dragging him down to the pediatric ER at the local hospital AGAIN, which meant he was confined to a rather cramped waiting room with very little to do for hours.

So now we're waiting for the little maniac to heal up his face one more time. Just like around this time last year when, a couple of weeks before his birthday, he broke loose during a diaper change, ran across the bed and took a flying leap onto an end table, busting his lip open. That DID require stitches, and it left just a little scar. No family portraits for his first birthday.

So when March 1 rolls around next year, remind me - we're putting the kid in a straightjacket and we're not letting him loose until AFTER family portraits.
