2006-05-26 2:27 PM Praying for a friend Mood: Sad Read/Post Comments (2) |
This isn't going to be the best entry.... a very good friend of mine, and a good friend's girlfriend was in a near fatal accident on May 12th. I just found out about it. Thanks to Kent county rescue squad she is still alive. Michelle would have been attending commencement on may 13th... yep the day after to receive her BS in Biological Sciences to follow on into her graduate medical program. She didn't make it. She is currrently still in critical condition with 2 collapsed lungs, a ruptured splien, a tear in her liver, a tear in her right kidney, broken femur, broken pelvis, broken ribs, and a broken back. How a 91 pound girl could survive something like this is beyond me. As of yesterday afternoon, her neuro team met with her parents and informed them there is a very good chance she will come out of this with no mental deficencies, and she is now responsive and able to move her limbs, toes, fingers, and head. She has been trying to communicate by writing but gets tired quickly. This afternoon, they tried to remove the ventilator, but she couldn't make it 5 minutes breathing on her own. The road will be long, but she knows her friends and family are behind her. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
