2006-08-22 5:52 PM Rhetorical Analysis of "Let America be America Again" Read/Post Comments (111) |
For the following prompt, your response should be 1-2 meaty (i.e. not skimpy) paragraphs in length. This post is not an essay and therefore does not need an introduction or conclusion; just jump right into your analysis of Hughes' poem. Write in an academic voice: avoid "I," contractions, slang, and other informal language.
Here's the prompt: Choose two sides of the rhetorical square, and analyze Hughes' "Let America Be America Again" with regard to these aspects of the text. Be sure to provide evidence from the poem to support your mini-analysis. Remember that all *well-supported* analyses are valid; there is no single "right" way to analyze and describe his audience, purpose, argument, or persona.
