POST DUE: Monday, Nov. 6 at 11:59pm
When we began reading Huck Finn, we noted that this novel is considered a Bildungsroman, or a coming-of-age novel. You have now read enough of the novel to have seen some evidence of Huck beginning to mature, specifically with regard to his moral development. For this week's post, reflect upon the extent to which the character of Huck has progressed in his moral development. How has Huck changed in his his views on how he should treat Jim, his views on lying vs. telling the truth, and other issues? Discuss the relationships between Huck and other characters that have shaped his views (e.g. Jim, the King, the Duke, Mary Jane...), as well as any key turning points in Huck's moral development that have occurred in Chapters 1-32. Cite specific details from the text to support your ideas. Your response should be one-two paragraphs in length. Read/Post Comments (90) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
