another birthday along with the southern girl and the iceback and whatever else i think of

well, it's hard to believe but seventeen years ago today i was laying in a hospital bed, begging for more drugs as i tried to push z out of my body.

when the nurse said, "i can give you another shot, but it will slow labor down" i told her forget it.

and honestly, after having two intestinal blockages, which is constant pain and doesn't come and go in waves like labor, believe me, labor ain't that bad.

i can't believe it's been seventeen years. they always say kids grow up so fast, right before you know it. and they do.

i've failed that child in many ways. he's no motivation, always has to be told what to do. i haven't spoiled him in monetary terms, but i've spoiled him in not making him do what he doesn't want to.

still, i think despite that, he'll always be alright. i'm almost sorry to say that he's a bit of a hustler. he knows how to get things he can't afford. oh he does it legally, by convincing his friends to trade it or just plain give it to him.

he's got a wicked sense of humor, and if he weren't so shy in front of crowds, he make a great stand-up comedian. he's also quite the artist, both in drawing and in music. he's taught himself to play both guitar and bass, and he even writes music.

maybe, fingers crossed, he'll be all right, and won't be living with mom and dad until he's thirty.

so after i'm finished writing this, i will walk to the grocery store and buy the fixins for his birthday dinner...chicken quesadeas, and later today, i'll bake his favorite chocolate on chocolate cake...ummmm, yummy(he is my kid, that's for sure).

wow, seventeen years. where does the time go?

well, it's not easy being a southern girl married to an iceback (aka canadian). i tell you, it's soooo freakin cold in my house. yesterday, i was freezing all morning and when i went to get dressed, i put on a long sleeve shirt.

a little while later, i decided i needed to walk to the post office and the pharmacy(to get my much needed soda pop) and i was shocked when i walked outside and found it to be quite warm. supposedly, it was at least 80.

last night i slept in a thick fleece pullover and my flannel pants. i didn't get hot once during the night.

but now i think both mark and i are getting sick. he's already stuffy and can hardly breathe, and i can feel the shit gathering in my chest.

tis the season, i suppose.

ok, here we go...

a guy buys $30 worth of lottery tickets. checking the paper, he sees he's matched five numbers on one of them. excited, he goes to the store to collect his $100,000 and when she runs it thru the machine, he hears the little music. she hands him $3 and throws the ticket away.

he says, "wait, something ain't right." he shows her the paper where he matched five numbers. and she is just as confused.

talking to the media, he says, "i can understand them getting one or two numbers wrong, but all five? someone made huge mistake so now someone has to make me happy."

he's hired a lawyer.

*sigh*

ok, here's a good one. the bush administration is one of the most secretive in the past 20 years, right?

so secretary of defense rumsfeld(aka satan) travelled to china and told them that they needed to be less secretive because it causes the other countries not to trust them.

*sigh*

the people of new orleans whined and complained about how their government had forsaken them, mostly because of their color. yet they are cozy and safe either in temporary housing, be it cruise ships, hotels or trailers, or a few of the remaining shelters.

meanwhile, in mississippi, hoards of people, both black and white, still haven't heard from the goverment and continue to sleep outside waiting for help to come.

*sigh*

it's time for me to get dressed and walk my happy ass the quarter of a mile to the store(and then back).

ya'll have a good day now, ya hear.
