Dogster

water dog, water dog

the first time i took asche out to the beach, she didn't know what to think. she was on the leash and it was like "whoa!" as the waves came in.

the second time i took her out, i dragged her along on her leash and she followed, wasn't particularly fond of the waves as they came crashing in and out, but young girl hung with it.

tonight, i took her out. took her leash off as soon as we hit the beach, and ole (young) girl went crazy! she followed me through the sand and out into the surf.

i wore the shorts i did because i thought they wouldn't get wet. i was wrong. she started jumping up on me in the back (so that the whole back of my shorts ended up wet) and i'd tell her "neit" (or is it niet?") but she kept jumping. after a while i got her to stop jumping on me and she just followed me where ever i walked in the surf. further out, she was there, the incoming waves didn't bother her. right with me she came. no matter what. she slogged through the surf with no problems.

sam tells me the mom was a flat coat retriever (i saw the mom, looked like a golden retriever only black fur so vet tech sam put the breed name to her)..."The Flat-Coated Retriever deserves more attention, as he is not only an excellent bird dog and swimmer but also an outstanding family dog. These dogs are gifted with a fine intuition" not so sure about the intuition although she immediately (like Yasha) honed in on where the dog food was.

so i do have a water dog, pit bull side of her be damned! (honestly, the pit side comes out when she plays with Diego, a lab/pit mix, twice if not three times her size, and little miss afraid of everything, once she wears him down, she goes to town on his ass, and he takes it...likewise, she beats her brother's ass to no means, every time. eh, she's kind of a mean little bitch.) she hates a bath...but she's really starting to like the ocean. oh yeah!

to me, she's tiny. she has the long lanky body of the flat coat retriever, but most pits don't really get too tall, so she'll have that height, just not the bulk.

but she'll be a water dog and with her fierceness, a force to be dealt with. she ain't gonna take no shit from no other dog. she will hold her own. ok, ok, get off my ass, i am trying to teach her the limits of play. i am. ask her asche colored tail.

now if i can just be the bad cop and finalize the housebreaking, i'll be set. (i'm on my way, today was a good day)
