LB went to the dentist on Friday.

He was nervous, but only because the hygienist was clearly nervous. A bit later, he said it was his first time working with the kids and eventually he handed LB off to the other more experienced hygienist. They wanted to take x-rays so she started with the front teeth, which was pretty easy, although he moved for the upper x-ray. Then she tried a few different ways to do the back teeth and as we all know it was uncomfortable, and eventually she gave up trying, his teeth looked fine and he was not happy with the poking of the x-ray film into the roof of his mouth-even with the smaller films, they were still too big for his mouth.

He has a clean bill of health, the hygienist cleaned his teeth and then they put the fluoride on them-it's just a foamy stuff they brush on now, so much easier than the soaked cotton of my youth.

And then the dentist came in. He is sooooo good with kids, it was wonderful. LB responded so well to him, let him count and inspect his teeth, even let him scrape off the tartar.

The one thing that the dentist showed us in the x-rays are that LB's adult teeth are starting to come in. Here, have a look (they're the second row of teeth in the right hand x-ray):
