I'm not saying that our culture suffers from attention deficit disorder, but . . . remember Katrina? There's a fundraiser for Katrina in Baltimore on Nov. 1, at a club called Sonar. Doors open at 6 p.m. and all ages are welcome.

Tickets cost $50. Pricey, I know. But EVERY PENNY goes to Katrina relief. And if you buy a beverage, every penny or profit goes to the relief fund as well. Plus, Wendell "the Bunk" Pierce and other Wire types will be there. Check out www.sonar.com for more details.

So what do you get for your fifty dollars? Only three of the most wonderful bands ever -- the Subdudes, Rebirth and the Iguanas. (I love the Iguanas so much I referenced them in The Last Place. Remember? They played the Cinco de Mayo event at the Point.)

Ticket sales aren't what the organizers hoped. Maybe a lot of people are going to wait until the last minute. Maybe the Tuesday after the Halloween weekend is a tough date. But if you live in the area and can come -- please do. I'll be there. You can make fun of my dancing.

But not to my face.

(Hmmm. Dancing. Dances. A future topic? I believe the first dance I learned was -- oh, the shame -- "the Jerk." Also, I have a photograph of two college friends doing the "Funky Tut.")
