My two cents? Never travel without them.

I'm in the Columbus airport. It has free wireless, ever-so-civilized, but the breakfast selections are not going to win any prizes for nutrition. Luckily, I had one more Luna bar tucked in my knapsack. Here's what I love about Luna bars:

1) Like a Timex, they take a licking and keep on ticking. Okay, not ticking. (Because then they would be seized at security.) But while they may bend, they seldom break. Which means they also meet the criterion of comedy established by Alan Alda in CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS.

2) They taste pretty good. But not so good that you want a second one. My favorite, Nutz Over Chocolate, tastes sort of like this Rice Krispie thing my mom made in my youth, not the Rice Krispie Treat, but one in which she poured melted semi-sweet chocolate chips over a base of Rice Krispies.

3) 180 calories, 10 grams of protein, 35 percent of my DV for calcium, 12 percent of my fiber DV, 30 percent of iron.

4) I can pronounce all the ingredients.

This has been a great trip. I'm exhausted and I might be sick again and I'm going home to an empty house, but so it goes. One more big trip ahead of me and then I'm . . . semi-done. Let's put it this way: No overnights in May. Or June. Only one trip in all of July. So, as of May 1st, the Memory Project will be returned to its original mission.
