As noted in the comments for the foregoing entry, I'm pretty sure I've been up almost 18 hours. I got up at 5 a.m., CDT, and now it's almost 9 p.m., PDT. Frankly, I'm too tired to do the math. But I need to be working on my talk tomorrow at this lovely conference, here in Fullerton.

A few idle thoughts from today:

More people should bring me bottles of chardonnay. Thank you, Tom.

Media escort Diana Faust is a goddess. And also sort of a Buddha. But mainly a goddess.

I think I've said this before, but the tour isn't about the writer. It's about readers. Once you get that, it's all great.

By the way, I was reviewed in People. My first experience in People, in the great tradition of first times, was not good. And the second time was only a mild improvement. But each subsequent time has been better. Still, as I was wambling about DFW airport this a.m., en route to some caffeine, I stopped in a newsstand and debated not looking at all. Finally, I decided to suck it up and flip to the book reviews, play it as it lays.

And now I'm one of those people who love People.
