Hooray for taxes being filed. And for refunds!

So I decided this year to try doing my own taxes for the first time since before I got married. I finally get to file as a single person again! Yay! And, I get a nice refund this year. Much better than last year, when I had to file as a married person. Plus, my taxable income went down by a chunk because of buying the Prius, so that was nice. I used TurboTax, which was pretty straightforward. I had to do some manual calculating because of some weird investment stuff, but the whole process, start to finish, only took two and a half hours. Okay, it would have been a little faster if I hadn't had to search through piles of paperwork to find my Prius purchase documents, and other major purchase documents, and if I hadn't had to puzzle my way through foreign income dividends, but it wasn't so bad.

And at $33 for TurboTax, and $29.90 for filing electronically, it was a lot cheaper than paying a CPA.

Wooha!

And plus, I assembled my second attempt at an IKEA filing cabinet today (with only minor issues with pre-drilled holes being larger than the screws supposed to go in them), so I will be able to sort out all those frightening piles of paperwork. I might possibly even start doing that tonight.
