(Note: the end of this has a Top Chef spoiler from last week's wedding episode, for those who are even more behind than me.)

This has been a really interesting week and a half: I've been to a Montessori conference that had very little to do with Montessori. I've had both the best session yet in my new chiropractic regime (last week's adjustment held through the hotel beds, endless hours in chairs and long drives for the conference), and the worst session yet (my neck has been out the last couple of days, causing raging headaches). Last week it was determined that S. (my dancing partner and friend) and I are better off (as initially suspected) as friends and not romantic partners. This week I went on a semi-blind date with A., who will probably read this. (Thank you, by the way, for agreeing to go on a picnic instead of to a restaurant on the First of May.) I felt strongly that I wanted to participate in Monday's economic boycott, so I pulled together the leftover's from Kam and Gerry's May Eve party (including chocolate cake!) and we had a very nice sunny picnic. Hooray for sunshine!

This week I'm also beginning to plan a possible collaboration with an alternative high school program, and tomorrow I have a meeting with one of my students and her parents during which I have no doubt her parents will yell at me because their daughter is unlikely to complete pre-algebra this year. Never mind that she is an articulate, bright girl who reads voraciously, and has more compassion than most people, but apparently it's just not okay that it takes her a while to get mathematical concepts. Sigh. This is the part that is hard about my job. And I have to be professional tomorrow. I can't just let loose as to what I really think, because it wouldn't be appropriate. But damn, wouldn't I like to.

So, it's been an interesting week and a half. Just a flat out random mix of ups and downs. Tonight's down: the headache. Tonight's up: I finally got caught up on Top Chef and Survivor. Ohmigod, when Stephen got voted off of Top Chef, I practically got up and did a dance, I was so excited. What an arrogant, self-aggrandizing ass! Hooray for finally getting rid of him!

And on that uplifting note, I'm for bed.
