LASIK followup

I just had my first followup appointment with Dr. Cress. My left eye, as expected, is doing extremely well, vision is 20/20. My right eye, vision is more like 20/40 (or maybe slightly worse) at this moment. Wait. Are the two numbers one for each eye? In that case it would be 20 for the left and 40 for the right. Anyway, Dr. Cresse says I still have a little bit of nearsightedness and a little bit of astigmatism in my right eye. I have an appointment on Friday to have him look at it again, and it's possible that my vision will be even better by then. This does happen. He also said that if he needs to lift the flap again, he'll lift the flap again. I'll see what he says on Friday. If he does need to do a touch-up surgery, I either need to do it right away, or after I get back from Europe. It may be that he would want to wait until after I get back from Europe so that the eye is all healed, or it may be that he would want to do it right away before the flap re-attaches. In any case, if I have to have a touch up surgery on that eye, then it'll cost me $200 to the Laser Center (which charges for the use of its equipment and support staff), but I won't have to pay anything more to Dr. Cress. I have complete follow up care from him for a year as part of the fee I already paid.

In any case, I'm seeing so much better.... I put my old glasses on this morning just to see what it was like, and it was astonishing how crappy my vision was with them on! So obviously, it's much much better than it was. I'm seeing well enough to drive, and to do everything I need to do.

It's still not comfortable to do a whole lot of reading, and I don't like watching television during the day, so I'm a little bit at loose ends. Maybe I'll go practice the guitar. I haven't been doing enough of that lately.
