Another excellent Friday the 13th! I was awoken 30 minutes earlier than usual by Andreas, who provided my morning overdose of cuteness. Our green tree frogs are apparently still around and doing fine. He found one on the sliding glass door and brought it in to hop around and be generally and unbelievably cute. Cute! And he wonders why I tell him he's neat.

Work was pretty uninspiring, until around 11 a.m.-ish, when I was hit over the head with a story. I've been working on a story for a secret project and I think this is finally it. The first one expanded itself into a novel, the second one was a reworkind of a story and it just wouldn't go, and this one seems to be a combination of an odd idea I had yesterday and some extrapolation of one of my worlds. I hadn't even *thought* about those things breeding, but apparently the little bastards did. It's turning out first person, which is apparently my cue for "really harsh things are about to happen".

Apparently I have a short story that may or may not have passed level 5 slush. I'm able to monitor the slusher's comments online, and this was basically a critique, which is fine, but nowhere in it does it say "but I'm passing it" or "and I'm rejecting it". Too much narrator intrusion is claimed. It's a first person story. *blink* Everything else I can agree with -- use of passive voice (the flashback parts), typos (sneaky little bastards!), etc. I guess it's better than counting adverbs.

A fun site to visit and possibly join: Freecycle.
